Ages 7 – Seniors
Amherst Archery Academy teaches mixed-level, multi-generational classes. Beginner archers, experienced archers, families, kids and adults all attend General Group Sessions. Class sizes range from 5 people to 12 people. We occasionally run slightly larger classes if the cohort consists mainly of Amherst Academy alum and if additional instructors are available.
We provide equipment
Amherst Archery Academy provides Olympic style take-down recurve bows in a variety of sizes for left and right handed archers. Arm guards, finger tabs, arrows, and targets are also provided free of charge. You are welcome to bring your own equipment and, if we clear it for use, you are welcome to use it. Though we provide Olympic style recurve equipment we also coach compound and traditional style, so feel free to bring your equipment.
What we teach
Amherst Archery Academy teaches a simplified and beginner-friendly version of the National Training System (NTS) shooting form to beginning archers. This shooting form provides archers with a structure through which consistency, competency, and responsible arching can exist. Those who are looking for more advanced instruction and coaching in NTS graduate to our Junior Olympic Archery Development Program or our Adult Archery Achievement Program (JOAD/AAAP).
If you’d like to know more about our teaching style, we think you should read about Our Philosophy. Our welcoming, positive, detailed teaching style along with our programming sets us apart from the crowd.
