Summer Day Programs for Youth and Teens
Summer Day Programs at Amherst Archery Academy are rich with opportunities to explore all aspects of archery. Summer Day Programs are truly an immersion experience in archery. We teach the National Training System (NTS) which is the same form that US Olympic archers are trained in. Archers in the Summer Day Program at AAA have ample opportunity to practice and apply NTS. Archers 9 years of age and older are best suited for this program. Summer Programs at AAA involve deep levels of focus balanced with periods of fun physical frolicking in a professional atmosphere.
Morning activities involve: introduction games and icebreakers; warm ups include using stretch bands to practice and refine archery form; video analysis of the archers for those visual learners; blank-bale archery; shooting arrows, coaching and more.
On fair weather days we walk to a nearby park around noon to eat lunch and play games like Capture the Flag, Mosquito Tag, Ghosts Ghouls and Goblins and more.
Afternoon programming includes an ongoing Summer Youth Tournament; coaching, archery games, and fee-shoot. Art projects related to archery, such as making your own target or doing ARTchery may also be included as part of the program!
